some thoughts on Homosexuality

as i was looking through my files on the computer, i wrote something on homesexuality 9 years ago...so i thought, perhaps i could just post it here.

People who call themselves gays are sexually attracted to and fall in love with people of the same sex. They may be homosexuals of either sex (gays for men, and lesbians for women), bisexuals or transgender persons.

Philosophers argue that ”there is no difference between homosexuals and heterosexuals in their moral characters or in their contribution”. In liberal view, homosexuality is not a sinful, but unchangeable sexual orientation. In other words, liberals believe that sexual orientation is a natural property and people are born with a certain type of sexuality. That means that society should accept homosexuality as a normal phenomenon and tolerate homosexual people

However, there are many people who oppose such views. Anti-homosexual prejudices dominate in our societies. Such prejudices are based "on rules that dictate how we should look, walk, talk, dress, act, think and feel". Majority of people think that homosexuality is unnatural and a completely distort behavior in society. They scared that ”homosexuals want to come into churches and disrupt church services and throw blood all around and try to give people AIDS and spit in the face of ministers”. This argument seems to be weak because God loves all persons and approves all relationships based on a true love. I believe that hostile attitudes to homosexuality cannot be justified by religious teachings.

Those people, who consider that homosexuality is sinful and unacceptable to God, often prevent homosexual people from entering Church in the simplest examples. In many cases, homosexuals experience verbal and physical harassment in daily life. They are discriminated against and their human rights are abused.

Ethically, it is impossible to reject homosexual people since they have been here for a long time. They are not aliens. They are human beings. Instead of discriminating we should help them to integrate in the society. At least we should try to understand them and accept that they are as equal human beings as other people are.

Very interesting...

What do you think about legalizing the marriage amongst the people of same sex? Is it right or wrong.
